Monthly Community Sound Meditation - Summer Solstice

  • Orpington Methodist Church 19 Sevenoaks Road ORPINGTON United Kingdom (map)

Join me for our live community sound bath meditation this June as we celebrate the Summer Solstice. This months session will be slightly longer at 1.5 hours. During this time I will share with you some heart practices in the form of poetry, meditations, mudra and very gentle guided movements from qigong, a Chinese energy cultivation and movement practice. The element associated with Summer is Fire. The heart, in Chinese Medicine is the Sun of the body and home to Shen or Spirit of Fire. The intention of this months session is to nourish and stoke our heart fire as we meet the light of the Solstice

Sound meditations are open to everyone. All you need to do is relax and be open to receive. Let go of all expectation and take on shoshin, the beginners mind.

Our session is a soundscape where I will immerse you in beautiful instrumental sounds which can bring a nurturing energy to our whole being. Sound bath meditations are a great way to unplug from the fast activities and stresses that can often be the reality of life and open ourselves to a slower pace. Sound frequencies can help slow down the brainwaves by shifting from the more active (beta) state to a more relaxed (delta) or deep meditation or dreamlike (theta) state. When the mind is relaxed, the body softens and it is here that we can begin to experience subtle shifts in energy which may cultivate a pathway on a journey towards self healing.

I will begin the session with a guided meditation, mudra and a few gentle movements (mainly of the arms and heart space ) to prepare the mind and body to receive the sounds and vibrations from the different instruments that I will play.

Wear loose, comfortable clothing. Bring a yoga mat or other soft mat to lie on plus a pillow, blanket and eye mask ( or scarf to cover the eyes ). Come with an open mind and open heart to receive the sounds of the Ocean drum, Tibetan singing bowls, quartz crystal bowls, gongs and chimes.

Please note that these sessions are not suitable if you are in your first trimester of pregnancy or suffer epilepsy.

To book a space please message me via my contact form . I am hosting this session by dana which is the Buddhist practice of giving from the heart and a form of mutual support. In times where cost of living is challenging for many of us, this helps toward keeping these sessions accessible to our community. There will be a minimum contribution of £10 to cover administration. Please note that the 19th June does coincide with Fathers Day. If uptake is low for this day then the event will be cancelled. x

I look forward to sharing sound energy with you. If you use the contact form, please check your junk folder for my reply if you do not receive a return email within 24 hours.

I hope you can join me

Warmest wishes,

Yinny x
